San Carlos Hotel New York

I've looked at this hotel 100 times but never stayed here before, it looked dated in the pictures. I finally stayed here and it was great. I can see why people really like it. The staff were so friendly and eager to help at every moment. The furniture is an older style but clean and not beat up. My room was huge with a sitting area, desk and kitchenette. The bed was really comfortable and it was very quiet. I didn't have time to check out any amenities so I'm not sure what's offered. Parking was 3 blocks away, I paid $40 for 24 hours. Subway, restaurants and tourist attractions are all within a few blocks.

The room and hotel were beautiful. The only reason I’m writing a review is because I believe the housekeeper that cleaned our rooms went above and beyond. Our room was spotless every time we returned, she brought us extra towels without asking (we were a large group), and I just felt like she did an exceptional job every time!

The staff was very friendly and eager to help. The kitchenette with minifridge, microwave, dishes, silverware, glasses, and a can and bottle opener made it possible to prepare breakfast and dinner in our room. Each day, the housekeeping staff replaced our dirty dishes with clean dishes. The iron, ironing board, pants press, and 2 white robes were a nice touch, as was lending out umbrellas on a rainy day. This hotel is clean. For our family of 5, it was so nice to have 2 rooms and 2 TVs within our suite. It was well worth it to pay the extra daily fee for a roll-away bed so that, between the second bed, sofa sleeper, and roll-away bed, each of our 3 teenagers could have their own bed. It was great to have 2 closets to store our luggage in. Also, we appreciated the fitness center and the business center, both for their usefulness and also to have someplace to go when someone wanted a little break from 24-7 family time. The vending machine in the business center was handy. Great location in Manhattan. Just go 1.5 blocks to the subway station on 51st St, take it downtown to Grand Central Station (42nd St), and transfer anywhere. Take subway 4, 5, or 6 Uptown to return to 51st St station. The multiple Duane Read stores nearby were convenient for essential groceries.

Good hotel. Big rooms with kitchenaid. very clean. The location is central. It is not the times square but very close to the 5th ave, to 2 subways stations and with many places to eat around We were 6 persons, 2 adults and 4 kids. We good a 2 rooms suit. The rooms were big and very comfortable. good value for families.

Hotel is in wonderful location in 50th 7th E Midtown close to subway (just few feet away from hotel) Secure, relaxed, uncrowded, clean (daily room clean) hotel with friendly staff. I love that it’s an independent family owned hotel too.
